How to Upload Images to a Session
Supported formats, size limits, and what happens to your images after upload.
Overview
After creating a session, you upload the images you want to rank. This article covers supported formats, size limits, and what happens to your images after upload.
Before You Start
- You have created a session
- Your session is in Draft, Active, or Stable status (adding to a ranked set re-opens it)
- Your images are in JPEG, PNG, or WebP format (iPhone photos convert to JPEG automatically when you pick them)
Steps
Open your session
From the Dashboard, click on the session you want to add images to. This opens the session detail page.
Upload your images
Drag and drop your image files into the upload area, or click it to browse your files. You can select multiple images at once. Limits: Free (10 images), Creator (30), Team (100), Studio (unlimited). Maximum 25 MB per image in JPEG, PNG, or WebP format. Uploading from an iPhone? Just pick your photos — they convert to JPEG automatically.
Wait for processing
Each image is processed server-side: your original file is stored securely (untouched), a watermarked preview is generated for evaluation, and the image is registered in the ranking system. Processing takes a few seconds per image.
Verify your uploads
Once processing completes, you see thumbnails of all uploaded images. The session status changes from Draft to Active — meaning it is now ready for evaluation.
Troubleshooting
Upload fails with a format error
Symptom: An error message says the file format is not supported.
Fix: The image is not a supported format. Supported: JPEG, PNG, and WebP. iPhone photos (HEIC) convert to JPEG automatically when you pick them from your photo library — if a HEIC file is rejected, it was likely sent from the Files app; share it to your photo library first or export it as JPEG. Other common culprits: TIFF, camera RAW (CR2/NEF/ARW), or PSD files — convert those to JPEG or PNG before uploading.
Upload fails with a size error
Symptom: An error message says the file exceeds the maximum size.
Fix: The image file is larger than 25 MB. Resize or re-export at lower resolution. For ranking purposes, images do not need to be full-resolution.
I hit my image limit
Symptom: The upload area shows a message that you have reached the maximum images for your plan.
Fix: Remove images you do not need from the session, or upgrade your plan for higher limits.
